For #FossilFriday, the Chicago #Archaeopteryx! This gorgeous animal includes not only nearly the entire skeleton, but also soft tissues! At #Paleofest, Jingmai O'Connor discussed soft tissues of the skull and the feeding habits of this animal, including a mobile tongue, basihyal, & oral papillae!

Visited the famous Mazon Creek, which preserves an amazing array of exceptionally-preserved fossils from the Carboniferous, yesterday! I don't know what fossils I have yet, but we'll see after the freeze-thaw process!

Of course the worst people in the world influence paleontology (and many other sciences). Do you know how many fossil halls are named after the Koch brothers? With museums shrugging “Well where else are we going to get the money?”

Men of academia: please know that we see how you react to news of big names associating with Epstein. We see who says ”you have to look for grant money wherever you can”, ignoring that inviting Epstein to conferences, gatherings, fields sites, etc. puts the young women at those events in danger. 1/

My PhD almost entirely involved Chinese fossils, I worked with my advisor's Chinese collaborators, and several of my labmates were Chinese. All this does is detract from good science and take away both American and Chinese students/researchers. There is no good that comes from this if it passes.
