Today I was proud to present $30,000 in my discretionary state funding to the Underground Railroad Education Center to support their Museum Studies Teen Program.

There needs to be an opportunity for NYS to fight back when government actors are out of line. I just introduced A.9076/S.8500 with Senator Myrie - a bill that gives New Yorkers the power to hold government officials accountable in our own state courts when they violate our constitutional rights.

I won't stand for any attempts to suppress Sgt. Henry Johnson's legacy; it took nearly a century for his heroism to be properly recognized, and we can't erase that history.

Met with the New York Coalition For Open Government to talk about #SunshineWeek legislation to keep government transparent. Two bills I'm excited about are A.847, which mandates live streaming of all public meetings & hearings, and A.3425, which cuts FOIL response times to stop state agency delays.
