Y'know. Language acquisition and retention are really weird. I don't think I could remember how to conjugate the future tense of an -ir verb if you held a gun to my head, but I will remember the French word for "subtitles" until I die.

Today my student was late for class because she's been pulling 12-14 hour shifts non-stop at work - multiple coworkers, including a dear friend, were just deported to Ukraine. Even aside from empathy and ethics and humanity... We are cutting off our nose to spite our face. Damnable foolishness.
