It’s amazing what I can accomplish when I’m not falling asleep at my desk. I just fixed a painting I have been struggling through all week. I finally feel the momentum forward.

Getting some daytime painting in, which is always a blessing.

Sometimes forget that Bluesky is a place to post art. So I will post here for a little while to get over my posting anxiety.

Our yard has a lot of great birds visiting these days, but the neighbor’s yard has a bunny and I am jealous. Could the outdoor bunny feel the power and greatness of my bunnies from inside the house? Is he threatened by their greatness??

Today I saw a robin pull a worm up from the ground. It was amazing. Worm survived…only because I was starting at the Robin wide eyed and awkwardly from the window…the robin flew away, unnerved.

Yesterday we put 13+ worms in our garden beds. Today I saw an opossum successful cross the road. What a great week. #blessed

I still feel like I want to be even more and more faceless on the internet. I’ve gone a good year without showing my face and the amount of speaking I’ve done in videos is also diminishing. I realize this is the wrong way to go— but I don’t want people to see me? Just my work…

I am, once again, going through an “I feel weird about sharing my work” phase. It feels both exhausting and pointless. It’s not a matter of likes/response because I tend to get a very happy and welcomed response…so what is it?

Social media is overwhelming.

Wait till they hear how every famous painter always had models posing or just straight up painted on site. Mucha was super into photos and would put grids on prints to copy them. Rembrandt used camera obscura. There are no rules to art and anyone who tells you otherwise doesn’t want you to succeed.

I’m proposing a new class at the school I work for but the time slot is not ideal for outdoor drawing and now I am sad.

I barely update my threads account— I mostly use it to watch clips of SKZ livestreams and have a chuckle.

I’m overwhelmed with the projects I have/want to do.

Enter this: a repository of open-access, AI-free images of wild & exotic taxa. Artists creating *without AI* have blanket permission for derivative/transformative use.

I’m potentially teaching a one off virtual watercolor class next month and I plan on painting a scene with the shime enaga because why wouldn’t I?

Really looking forward to getting my seeds ready for planting when the world thaws. Sticking with some classics but definitely trying to plant some new stuff!

I had a baby on Tuesday and my heart feels full. The artist in me, though, watches from the outside waiting for her time to come back in. Being a parent and a creative is very hard and I wish more people spoke about it.

Trying to navigate going back to teaching in the winter right now. Juggling two littles, freelance, and teaching will be tough but I really want to make it all work.

On edge because I’ve been watching all these Blind box unboxings (specifically Sanrio), and I’m realizing that the mispronunciation of some of the names of the characters stems from the deeper misunderstanding of these characters backstories.

Just eating homemade butternut squash curry while watching Re-ment unboxings. I’ve lost control of my life. 🍛 (the unboxing of this set, which I’ve had my eye on for a long time).

So I decided not to pack my own print orders and use POD and I actually kinda hate it?? I dunno. I need to reevaluate.

I’ve been cranking out the line work for my October drawings for the last week or so. I’m doing them digitally and then printing them on watercolor paper— hoping that works to my advantage. It’s made drawing them so much faster and I’ll be happy to have the digital back up if I can’t get to painting
