Did you know Burke and Hare weren’t actually grave robbers? They murdered people and sold the bodies. But here’s the part history usually skips: their wives knew more than they let on. That eerie gap is where my novel began. Mrs Burke and Mrs Hare is out now

You know what? I miss Twitter - how it used to be. I miss the immediacy and the connections and the simplicity. I miss my old network of teachers, writers and librarians. I quit the day after the US election. If you are interested in kids' books, Scotland, history and kindness, let's connect.

These mysterious tiny coffins were discovered on Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh, in 1836: seventeen of them — carefully arranged: two rows of eight, with one placed on top. Could they be connected to the Burke and Hare murders? They feature in my novel 'Mrs Burke and Mrs Hare'

If you’ve read any of my children’s novels, a rating or review on the Big River website would be amazing. Though the only two I can recall verbatim are ‘I am sure many will enjoy this story, but I am not one of them’ and ‘not suitable for a 10 year old with a sensitive spirit.’

Hi. This is nebulous, but I'm looking for a chat with anyone who has moved from Glasgow over the boundary to one of the neighbouring local authorities about how they feel about it for something I'm working on. Would be very grateful.
