I want to commit myself to this going forward. New strategy to swap from my friday afternoon linkedin fightback cycle (see my previous post where i got into it about AGI this week). This suggestion feels more aligned with what im trying to do more generally: build new options for the future

Just realised i have a habit of picking arguments on LinkedIn on Friday afternoons about AI. By the end of the week i think i get fed up & cant resist saying something. Today, Gartner showed AGI on an AI adoption spectrum. But the fine print admits it would require technologies not even built yet!!!

I love that my work is mostly writing, and i pride myself somewhat on identifying as a "writer". But writing also physically hurts a lot of the time. It feels like molasses rolling down two sides of a hill and i am waiting for them to connect in the valley between, its excruciating.

May i suggest a new term? I know we have ai slop for the content generated by ai but may i propose AI gunk to refer to the worsening of google workspace, miro, and other globally distributed architecture software that now glitches more often or is slow to work cos of all the ai gunk clogging it up

Promising start to a new relationship between EU & big tech. Consumers and businesses would definitely be worse off if big tech platforms get in on financial data. Banks have dragged their feet on creating open banking/finance ecosystems but it is happening and regulation and standards have helped.

Google forcing gemini into workspace is no different from them forcing their search engine into chrome which they were just called out on as anti-competitive. Even if you dont want gemini now that you are paying for it you are less likely to use alternative AI tools in your biz/collab software, no?

This is also why we need a new approach to tech policy that does not seek to separate tech implementation from societal impacts. For eg., #EuroStack needs to incorporate a decolonialist agenda or risk creating new tech policies that recreate current power systems: platformable.beehiiv.com

Great piece that shows why Europe should be building global alliances instead of claiming unique risks of “digital colonisation”. In areas like digital taxation, europe is too quick to throw other countries under the bus for its own tariff appeasements (which dont work anyway).
