STATEMENT FROM CO-PLAINTIFF: Lynette Mejia, co-founder of @la-cac.org, sent me her thoughts after the ruling: "This settlement says unequivocally that those tactics aren't going to stop or silence our fight to protect libraries in Louisiana."

Big win for the #firstamendment and #democracy today, as #lafayettela library advocates Melanie Brevis & Lynette Mejía settle their lawsuit with LCG & former board president Robert Judge. In addition to removing all speaker restrictions, the settlement requires Judge to pay damages of over $12,000.

#Livingston parish had a balanced board & an agreement in place regarding book placement. Their director had increased engagement, & the budget was on track. It wasn't enough. A reminder that this isn't about "saving children." It's about dismantling public #libraries through chaos. #freadom
