I generally agree. I'm low on Volpe and probably always will be. However, I think the desire to see him improve is necessary because the team is not likely to replace him. Even going into arb, he's still going to be pretty cheap and so long as his defense bounces back, he still has some value.

Hearing a lot of 'he just needs to make contact and stop swinging for the fences' in the Volpe discourse. He did that in 2024. And had an 87 wRC+.

My ideas to "fix" the Home Run Derby. Option 1: First round is ten swings total, including homers. Winners advance. Semis and finals the old 10 outs format Option 2: First and second round like the old HRD TV show and do a three inning game between the contestants. Finals is a full 9 inning game.

Yeah, they clearly thought he was done developing or would be soon after that big year in AA. That was, at the least, a miscalculation.

I harbor no thoughts that the Yankees actually *will* move on from Anthony Volpe, nor do I necessarily think they *should*, but there's no way this is what they envisioned for him when they passed on Seager, Turner, etc.

Ban Anthony Volpe from throwing to third.
