When I was able to focus on #TheSmashingMachine (I was battling a pretty intense migraine throughout), I found it pretty compelling. Safdie wisely avoids the standard biopic structure. This is an actor’s showcase through and through, and Johnson is remarkable.

I have yet to be disappointed. It’s been a damn good year.

Choosing #TheSmashingMachine over #OneBattleAfterAnother tonight because I know my local theater and the auditorium showing OBAA is in no way equipped to do that film justice.

Two of my favorite films (Election and Catch Me If You Can) were both discovered during channel surf sessions. I’m so grateful🙏🏻
