Just got the @cyberpunktcg.bsky.social Alpha Kit in and can't wait to try it out with some friends! Been really excited to check this game out, glad I got my hands on it just in time before the Kickstarter ends in a little over a week.

I'm having a blast with Screamer. An anime-inspired arcade racer with an emphasis on drifting and an ambitious story. 4-player split-screen! I never thought the MS-DOS game I owned 30 years ago would come back in such a glorious way. We'll talk about it more on The MinnMax Show podcast this week!

For the past decade or so, I've mostly ignored reviews for big open-world games because, having reviewed a couple, the 'normal experience' of the game is absolutely nothing like the 16-hour-a-day grind to beeline through the main story that reviewers experience. Critique is always colored by that.

I also got a review code but unfortunately don't feel like I've put enough time into it just yet to share full thoughts. Of the reviews going live that I've seen so far, I think Hayes is on a very similar page to me. Huge world, some cool moments, tons to do, but also all very wonky at the same time

Crimson Desert is a bizarre game - sometimes enchanting, sometimes utterly frustrating. A technical marvel meshed with an overdesigned open world and bafflingly bad story. Parts of it I love, but too many strange design decisions. My review for Game Informer gameinformer.com/review/crims...

I really do want to also highlight that, as someone who watches a lot of DF content, part of why the DLSS video is so frustrating is that folks like @dark1x.bsky.social and @dachsjaeger.bsky.social have been gen-AI skeptics for a long time, and their views were not included in this coverage.

DLSS 5 looking pretty damn terrible. I want tech to preserve the image intended by the devs while leveraging more performance, not turn it into some abysmal looking AI Slop

Totally missed Battle Vision Network reworked its direction. Roguelike feels like a smart move. Kinda hope there's still at least a local multiplayer component though because M&M: Clash of Heroes is a great time with friends and there's not really any other games that scratch this particular itch.

Pokémon Red & Green sold poorly in Japan when they launched in 1996, only catching on months later. Apples and oranges, I know, but this is indicative of the shift in how execs at game publishers, streaming services, and Hollywood studios need instant results or they pull the plug. It's unhealthy.
