Just in case anyone is confused by the leaks, Lucas having a clause in the Disney sale contract saying they could never #ReleaseTheOriginalTrilogy is fan theory nonsense. People saying Kennedy said they wouldn’t “touch it” are misinterpreting something she said when not hearing a question.

Fifteen years ago, I took it upon myself to recreate/upgrade the lost “What Has Changed” for the Special Edition section of the Star Wars website from 2006. It wasn’t long before I reported back that I had found “a few more” changes that weren’t in the original slideshow.

For an entire generation, people have experienced STAR WARS the only way it’s been possible: as the Special Edition. But if you’ve only seen it this way, you haven’t seen it all. #ReleaseTheOriginalTrilogy

Star Wars: Special Edition (1997): X-wing CGI model From Making Magic (LucasArts, 1996). The Special Edition, released 20 years after the original film, was released 28 years ago yesterday.

A friend asked me if I was going to a showing of Return of the Jedi tomorrow. I tried to explain that I would be insufferable at any screening of the Special Editions, what with my commentary and loud sighs. If any venue wants me to come provide commentary or loud sighs over their screening, HMU.

Tell HelloGreedo’s sister he was right… It’s about history. The Special Editions didn’t inspire an entire generation of filmmakers or win Oscars. The originals did, and deserve to be available to the public.

He’s also every Rebel pilot in the Special Edition!

We can dislike the Special Editions and still be touched by the end of “Ahsoka”. Lucas’s preferred versions can exist as “canon” alongside the historical theatrical editions. Every other movie series does this. Star Wars can do it too. #ReleaseTheOriginalTrilogy

This month, the actual writer of the quote is trying. Let’s see what happens next time.

One of the tiny changes made to the 19SE (Disney+) was filling in the black hole in the matte at Vader’s feet, which is visible in the original post.

I posted farewells to my active Twitter accounts and deactivated all my squatter accounts. The “X” update on iOS also removed “Promoted” from the ads, which is the last straw for me.

So what we do is frame-by-frame comparisons of the different versions of the Star Wars Special Editions, pointing out what has been changed over the years. And while we respect the artists who did this work (largely uncredited!), we also believe the original theatrical versions should be released.
