Panhandle Sun-- I noticed how beautiful the grass in the sunlight is and had to try to paint it! 6"x4", gouache on panel.

@milak-art.bsky.social and I started the last day of this year's Frank Bette paint out back on Park st, and I had to paint @oleswaffleshop again! Then we got breakfast.

Grant and Green Nocturne-- the last of our San Francisco paintings from the Frank Bette off island day and my 12th painting of the week. My favorite part is the warm light from the windows in the foreground. You can see that North Beach was really active and crowded for a Thursday!

Washington and Jones -- a fantastic and epic location picked out by Danny Folkman. This was the 10th painting of this year's Frank Bette paint out, on the "off island" day when Danny and I painted in San Francisco.

Alameda Theater Nocturne! This was the 8th painting of Frank Bette this year, and a subject I challenge myself with each time. This year I've been specifically studying neon and that made a big difference in my approach.

Lincoln Park- the 8th painting from this year's Frank Bette. I loved these trees and the light hitting the buildings outside the park. It was one of those afternoons that's sunny, but the fog looms closely, and I tried to capture that feeling. Sold!

Grand st Launch Palm Reflections-- this was my Quick Draw entry for Frank Bette this year and my 7th painting of the week! This painting is currently up at the Frank Bette gallery with many other works from the Paint Out -- make sure to go see the show!

Park at Central in Alameda-- the sixth painting from Frank Bette this year! I was pleasantly surprised by the loose quality of this one. @milak-art.bsky.social picked out this spot and @geoffallen.bsky.social was across the street from us looking at the Alameda Theater!

Green House-- this is right across the street from the Frank Bette gallery. This was the 5th painting from this year's Paint Out. I noticed the shadow this house makes the previous day and had to return for it! @milak-art.bsky.social was nearby painting the gallery itself.

The fourth painting kicked off day two of this year's Frank Bette with a lovely morning at Cafe Jolie ! They were patient and accommodating, so special thanks to them for letting us occupy their parklet. You can see @milak-art.bsky.social painting right ahead of me in the second image!

My third painting from this year's Frank Bette! San Francisco Skyline Nocturne, from the Alameda main st ferry terminal. It's a diptych on two 5"x5" panels.

"Bay Yo Bus" was the second painting of the week! My friend and fellow painter, Danny Folkman, met the owner of Bay Yo Bus so we could paint with Mila Kirillova. This was my first award winning painting! Thanks to the Frank Bette Center for an inspiring week.

I recently returned to the site of an older favorite painting, tucked up into the flowers of Buena Vista Park looking at Sutro Tower.

Gleneden beach-- the last of this year's Oregon paintings. We tried a few beach access points and recreation areas before we discovered this enchanting pathway. I love the way that the foreground shows off the juicy colors of the ocean. I'd like to practice dappled light more!

Artist newsletters like mine are an important way to reduce reliance on social media platforms. As we've seen recently, they can be extremely unstable, unreliable, and even fully evil. My subscriber list is mine no matter what happens, as exemplified by my ability to switch providers.

This was a commissioned portrait of a house on Castro. It was also a personal breakthrough about prioritizing form and light over details, especially when it comes to Victorian houses.

Vacation painting in Newport, OR

Great painting session in Glen Canyon with Luka! I had them take a picture of me on the stairs in my red jacket so I could paint myself in.

We’ve learned that these major corporations will drop support for lgbtqai+ folks and bipoc in a heartbeat if it doesn’t serve them. Support our own communities within. Buy from queer and bipoc artists, listen to queer music, queer owned businesses need more attention. We’re stronger together!

This started as a class demonstration and then sat around unfinished for a while before I finally got back to it. Now I can't even remember where this photo reference is. I know it's above Sacramento looking south at Bernal heights, but I haven't been able to figure out the exact intersection.

Seeing new followers with A/I art and posts about A/I artists, so this is a little reminder.

This is the painting that inspired my 50 'Views from Fulton's series that was part of Sanchez Art Center's 50|50 show. This painting was done over six months earlier but got me thinking about the slight changes in perspective from one Avenue to the next. You can see that series on my website!

I started this as an example painting during one of my 'Cityscapes in Gouache' classes at @archsupplies.bsky.social ! It's inspired by a walk through the presidio and this amazingly perfect fog moment.
