Very true. With three family members in jail for drug offences in QLD, they have not been sentenced for over 6 & 15 months. Getting bail is almost impossible (and legal aid don’t seem to do it, so pay private lawyer, still no gtee of bail). And NO rehabilitation or housing or support upon release.

What a great read, plus watching the whole 4Corners segment was so refreshing. I was 13 at the time. I remember my mother was active in women’s rights & demonstrations. In 2025 we’ve both lost & gained awareness and my daughter has a harder time now than I did when the world opened up for women.

1. Building features- California Palisades fires - I’ve heard some comments about the way houses were built there which contributed to them catching fire (I realise this was a small factor but I’m curious). Such as open eaves, attic vents, chimneys, as access points for embers.

Lot of Kiwis in Australia. Be alert and think twice about replicating the current NZ government here.
