i broke my curse... by starting with the dual ship for the first time since i started playing and realising how much easier it makes the game lol.... anyway this is still the prettiest game ever

think i am appreciating the more lowkey "boring" bits of monster hunter this time round. still chafe against some bits (farming annoying monsters is the highkey boring bit :p ), but i don't feel like farming nargacugas today so i'm knocking out the host of drinks quests i skipped and it's nice

i wonder if there's a particular part of this game that's giving me trouble

i always liked how for the context of an unevolved pokemon, it has a good "sturdy but rigid" look to it that mimics how some real animals don't move so cleanly. so i spent like an hour trying to draw rhyhorn as a gormless fat dog laying on its side even tho i'm not an artist

crushed that valentine's day shop displays being taken down means I don't walk past the rainbow coloured, queer-inclusive card that says "YOU'RE MY PERSON" every day any more

yeah no this one's really good. sadly feel like this flavour of bullet hell + how involved the stages actually are make it really really exhausting for me to play but i got a pretty deep normal maniac pb after 4 months of not playing so maybe it'll be a fun one to chase as a long term thing

booted mushihimesama on a whim and played a little of 1.5, i dunno what this changes but i enjoyed myself way more than i ever remember with this game. game's trying to kill me through the screen so can't do much at a time but maybe these "computer art visual entertainment" ppl were onto something

really wanna dedicate some time to getting a lot better at a lot of arcade games. been loving playing them an awful lot lately, but as someone whose breadth of Hard Games was until quite recently "hollow knight challenge runs", i'm not quite good enough at most to really sink my teeth into them

Yeah I went to an arcade for the first time. It was cool! I didn't spend too much time of any specific cabinets cause I went on with the intent of windowshopping and also I have adhd :p but some of the better pulls were...:

dunno how many of my followers are first person shooter people, but i feel i really wanna broaden my horizons on those. i only played doom 1 (liked), system shock 1 (loved), and marathon (alright), which prob isn't much to go off but would appreciate suggestions based off that

was a little worried i'd cooled off on metroid 1 for a bit then accidentally shot into what i presume is the varia suit room (which i didn't find first time) and my brain exploded

watching longplays of arcade games i like is a great way to trick myself into thinking i should be that good at them

played a little bit of contra hard corps and.. might have found the first run and gun i'm kinda into. got the same breakneck setpiece-focused pacing as gunstar heroes but even higher focus on those setpieces. and browny both has a really fun silly weapon set and is the cutest ever

love how the p3rd zinogre invasion tells you you can quit the quest via the menu option. then said menu option taunts you by telling you that you will NEVER be able to hunt it under this context EVER AGAIN

I think now I've cleared p&r and finished writing about it.. maybe I need to put the arcadey stuff on the backburner and start playing other stuff again lol. Still want to keep poking at my shmups list + any other curiosities, but most seem like they demand more time than I'm willing to give atm

did another p&r run to see if i got the game downloaded or not (i do). love the stage 3 boss whom otherwise optimal positioning against can force it to camp out of bounds

running headfirst once again into my silly issue where as soon as a hard clear / 1cc feels doable, my motivation to follow through on it plummets lack of novelty is definitely part of it but also.. i dunno i guess i'm putting a lot of subconscious pressure on myself to be able to pull it off. so

loving the contrast between pop'n twinbee's 'send your 2p partner flying across the screen' move (turns them into an invincible screenclear projectile) and pocky & rocky's (sends them and your camera completely out of position, will just straight up kill them in a concerning amount of situations)

my notes for this one are turning into like a full-on review oops. well i guess expect the pocky and rocky piece to drop at some point. i'm spending at least a whole paragraph talking about the continue button so it's gonna be awesome

cooling a little on r-type leo after playing more (the altfire homing blast feels like it overpowers a lot of the game's setups a liiiittle too much) but at the same time.. this is like a toughie shmup i feel like i could bring someone through without creditfeeding 30 times per run. which is nice

KIRBY SUPER STAR

was looking through nso to find things to play with a mostly nintendo games friend and i dled the gen/md one and got jumpscared by flicky. they got flicky on switch it's finally good i played a bit more and i dont think this'll ever be a grind game for me but it's just real good fun. love flicky
