Sectarian is a bizarre word for Labour to use to attack the Greens. Growing up in the 70s, it will always be synonymous to me with the Catholic/Protestant strife in Northern Ireland. In more recent times it's been used to describe Shia/Sunni strife in the Middle East. What does it mean here, now?

Is it a coincidence that on the day Labour scrapped incentives for landowners to sympathetically manage the few remaining wildflower-rich grasslands, including ancient ones...Labour got a drubbing in the polls in Gorton and Denton. Maybe no direct connection, but the direction of travel is clear.
