Yesterday, I was wondering how long it would take the Austrian far-right FPÖ to jump on the bandwagon and call for "Antifa" to be designated a terrorist organisation. This morning, I got my answer. FPÖ in a press release talking about "systemic violence by left-wing extremists in Austria".

This morning, I submitted the second part of my written comprehensive exam, and just an hour later, I received reviewer feedback on a book chapter I wrote for an edited volume early last year. That's what I call perfect timing, now that I've got this one big thing off my plate. :)

I might be biased, but this is a great opportunity, especially for PhD students and early-career scholars.

Several people have explained the reasoning behind this choice to me (# of seats in parliament), which is all fine and well, and might make sense to some. But as a doctoral student researching far-right politics, I still can and do think that this is an absolutely terrible idea, thank you.

Great article by @gabrielagreilinger.bsky.social on Orbán's successful efforts to bring far right and "mainstream right" elites together. What is important about these recent event though, is that the "mainstream right" and far right now meet on far-right events and, thus, on their terms.
