Landfilling Melissa is a 30-60 mile wide EF4-EF5 tornado! Nothing will withstand this monster!

The NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft (N42RF) flying into Melissa this morning had to return early due to severe turbulence. Melissa has 165mph winds and is expected to make landfall late tonight or early tomorrow morning at this same intensity...with gusts to 200mph. 🧪 #WithoutPay

This is a very serious update. Jamaica has never experienced a hurricane as intense as Melissa is forecast to hit. Video of Gilbert in 1988 is included to see what happened. Melissa will be worse! 🧪

I have never seen twin atmospheric rivers! This is pretty incredible as tidal flooding continues during high tides along the Mid-Atlantic tonight. Not a ton of rain but strong winds piling up salt water along the coast. Salt water will damage your car! Don’t drive through it.

#HurricaneErin will be highly impactful along the coastline from GA to Atlantic Canada 🇨🇦. This storm may have huge impacts on insurance rates for the entire U.S. as large waves barrel toward the beaches this week.

It’s been a wild day with Hurricane Erin! The first hurricane of 2025 becomes a CAT5…just like last year with Beryl! Rapid intensification is way more common than it used to be. 🧪 #HurricaneErin @elprager.bsky.social

Erin is now a CAT5 Hurricane with winds of 160mph. This monster storm is expected to double or TRIPLE in size over the next few days. This means the wind field will expand and push a lot of water toward the coastline if the U.S. major rip currents are on the way! 🧪 @elprager.bsky.social

Hurricane Erin’s eye is visible from the Puerto Rico NWS Doppler weather radar. NOAA Recon flight now in the storm just measured a wind of 157mph…that’s CAT5! The storm has undergone rapid intensification over the last 8 hours! Saharan dust is visible to the North of Erin. 🧪 @elprager.bsky.social

Very interesting how the earthquake led to the Tsunami Warning then to Tsunami Advisory. When things develop rapidly we work to get the information out that can help people make better decisions and look for more information. We work every day to identify trusted information to deliver. 93L too.🧪

We are watching for possible development in the Gulf over the next 3-5 days. While it might not have time to become a hurricane it could meander near the coast and become a prolific rain producer. All residents of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida Gulf coast should monitor very closely.🧪
