Finally had a chance to finish The Ravenous Sky last night, & if you haven't read @kurtkirchmeier.bsky.social's Shadow Road duology, you NEED to. I'd call it a "hopeful dystopian" story, & both books are just really, really great young teen reads. Plus, there are dragons (and 2nd book has crows)!

It is really really sinking in for me the degree to which LLMs are the ultimate expression of right wing anti-intellectualism. Its proponents are literally mocking the idea that anyone would ever want to learn anything, know anything, develop any actual skill, or have a thought of their own.

I don't think we fully appreciate how much of an uphill battle it is to win while running on an actual platform with a positive message as opposed to just sowing division and flooding the internet with blatant lies.

As relieved as I am that Carney was elected last night, I'm pretty disappointed at the voter turnout numbers, and at the fact that certain parts of the country so thoroughly failed the assignment of not splitting the progressive vote in a disastrous way.
