Going to have to cut the fat here soon, sad to see my hard work go, but it's just something I can't afford to hold onto. If anyone's looking for Xeon scalable / Gen 14 Dell hardware, Cisco gear, or etc. let me know. Looking to downscale. Message me on TG, or email at

Is it socially acceptable to dog on crappy Usenet indexers? Whoever runs DogNZB needs to get their shit together, because if I can't reach your API 40% of the time, I'm not going to use your product lol. Literally 40% miss rate - ???

Wanted to talk about a few things: Yes - I did start a business, I'm thinking of it as a way to explore what *I* want to do. I enjoy my 9-5, but I thought it would be a great way to branch-out on my own accord and do more. BUT, I'm not sure what direction I want to take it yet!

Hot take,
@anthrocon.org
needs to implement a lottery system like every other con that's on the same level of scale. Software issues, technical issues, overbooking, and hell even the overhead of traffic from users trying to book a room could be easily avoided if they setup a simple lottery system.

I mentioned this weekend that "nobody gets to ride for free" when it comes to users on my Plex server, and I got a funny look. Most folks on there are either good friends who have exchanged goods or services in the past, or just people I really like that *earned* access. Anybody else do this?

I've been bit by the Sonos bug, and HOLY these speakers sound so fucking good. I got a promo email the other day for being a "sonos owner" (I own a Play:1 I got at a garage sale for like $10) and decided to buy a pair of Era 100's. MASSIVE UPGRADE from my old setup, that's for sure. π€―

"You look like your father, baby face You sound like your mother, how clichΓ© You hold up a mirror, demonstrate" - Robin Skinner Honestly the most home-hitting words I've heard all year in a song. Growing up, people used to say this to me all the time - As an adult, hearing this just feels... bad?

Crazy thought, but some days I wish I had a way to make money with the knowledge and skills I've gained from progressing my lab. I put ALOT of effort into my lab to pitch new ideas, and software solutions to my current employer and I get alot of radio silence. Part of me just questions "why?"

Okay to be fair - it's not right to cuss at staff. However, they should have prepared better for this. Being one of the biggest furcons in the WORLD π People paid $350 for super sponsor to get a room and still got shafted π

The real irony of the whole Discord situation is I personally dropped Nitro ~1yr ago to save money. Personally, the major thing that will bother me is people leaving and, the part where I have to share my mug/ID. Listen, it's one thing to 'loosely' associate, and another to BIND my real identity.

Did some research, the only "mature" choice out everything else I've looked at seems to be Mumble if you want unlimited seats, or Teamspeak if you only have 32 friends lol.

Network upgrade complete! (For nowβ¦) My idea to βstageβ the UXG-Pro in UniFi Network before deploying was pretty smart! I built out all my rules beforehand and it just picked them up when it reached the controller! Migration was (mostly) just pulling out the old guy and swapping in the new one!

Was digging around in my pile of tech, and realized "man, I should really protect these better, they're like gold on eBay now" Decided to start printing RAM holders, as the current setup I have now is kinda clunky. (I'm using OEM cheap plastic-carriers) Also found holders for my SFP's too!

I have a new favorite tool! There's this 3D-printable tool called a "Cable Buddy" that lets you save the location of Ethernet cables by creating a fake "switch" that you can transfer them to. Then, you pull the switch, put the new one in, and transfer them back!
