I sympathise with the frustration at a certain flavour of TTRPG fans claiming it's elitist to learn the rules of the game you're playing, but I have to laugh at analogies like "you wouldn't say it's elitist to watch a TV show you claim to be a fan of"; people in TV show fandoms 100% do say that.

This probably won’t be in any ANIM game in the foreseeable future, and has probably been done somewhere before, but it might be an interesting design experiment to have a tactical combat dungeon crawler that forgoes HP entirely in favor of a table of effects for each weapon.
