My last panel at the 2025 Alliance Literary Festival was on "The Power of Make-Believe" with Arefa Tehsin and @tashanmehta.bsky.social. Moderated by Shamik Chakravarty. I stressed that one issue with the criticism of speculative fiction as "escapism" is it ignores the genre's power of allegory.
