okay NOW i have finished octopath traveler 0. this game sucks lmfao i take back my partial recommendation the post game has done nothing but sour me further. how is this shit so long and yet has basically nothing to say!!! why does it basically never get challenging until the last 20 minutes!!!!

i would like to issue an apology to master of all. it is bad, but bestower of wealth is truly terrible. possibly the worst story arc in any game i've played in quite some time. at one point i audibly got annoyed at how stupid a reveal was.

i have rolled credits on octopath traveler 0. it is extremely okay. - the first story is alright. the second story is really uninteresting. unfortunately the second story feels about twice as long. - the battle system still rips that hasn't changed. basically the only reason i finished this game.

ffxi was a nightmare to get working on linux BUT it runs so, so much better. truly nothing makes sense.

finally, what you've all been waiting for: a vague ordering of some of this year's games done by someone with weird and questionable taste everything after the top 3 is unordered within their respective zones. (additional list context in next post)

it seems okay. basically 4e but less rigorous in its phrasing which is real bad for this type of game. but it does a lot of smart modern ttrpg stuff™️ and its math seeeeemed very dialed in (at least as much has I could tell from a one shot)

trying out draw steel and realised that I haven’t played a tactical grid-based ttrpg that isn’t a 4E-like in, like, forever. complete and total culture victory for history’s most unfairly maligned ruleset if you’re like me and just pretend 5e doesn’t exist

various pending list updates: - about 18 hrs through ff12 and this game would really have to fall apart to not be near the top. definitely not perfect but i'm really, really liking it - near the end of ff11 base game. i've no idea how to rank it. - ffx and ffx-2 might swap spots. still debating.
