JFK-Jo'burg. 17 hours. Seatback video non-functioning, reading light didn't work. Close second: missed connection back home on the same trip. Had to buy a new ticket on Qatar, flew Jo'burg-Doha-Chicago. 26 hours total, 24 in the air, popped a migraine about four hours into the first flight.

Oh! I also had a biology (!) teacher who railed against the DDT ban.

Also: AI will only ever see the sources the state *wants* it to see. Think about Paxton on Vichy, or so many who pushed to access records on Algeria. Impossible with AI--it will never apply for or receive a special derogation or push to find a different source that might contest the state's version.

AI will never locate a new archive. It will never uncover a new source. It will never find a small, privately held collection of papers that can upend what we think we know about the past. It can never work with undigitized sources. It can never do real oral history or ethnography.
