Which brings us to today where every game has to have everything explained within itself for the sole fact that some or most people may buy it digitally, and unless they make a digital instruction booklet the players wouldn't know how to deal with anything.

Take FF7's booklet for example: It has TWO entire pages just for statuses, and while you can figure out how to cure most of them with item/spell descriptions, the game makes no attempt to tell you what some of them actually do unless you just guess or figure it out by trial and error.

I'm convinced modern videogames having so many tutorials has to do with the phasing out of physical releases having instruction manuals/booklets. They were THE spot to just dump every ounce of information about the game for the player to read at their leisure, and not bloat the player experience.
