Jeff Brown is the judge on this, who (while Trump appointed) is also a solid old-school Texas Republican sort who also ruled against a previous GOP gerrymander attempt in commissioner’s precincts in Galveston County. I’m not sure how the GOP moves fast enough to actually use these in 2026 anymore.

I spent the last week in Northern California and was cheered to see so many Yes on Prop 50 signs. I made sure to thank as many folks as I could with signage on their cars for voting when we in Texans weren’t given the same opportunity.

I voted no on every Texas Constitutional proposition. I usually do, to be honest, unless we’re voting to undo some other dumb proposition. I cannot overstate how much I don’t trust the Texas legislature. Most, if not all, will pass anyway. They always do.
