Tony nods and removes his hands slowly. "Yes. Always, Steve." He sits and waits. He's wanted this for the longest time and he'll be damned if he screws this up somehow.

"YES! Steve, I want to go on a date with you! Oh my goodness, you are utterly ridiculous!" Tony exclaims, cupping the man's face in his hands and gently shaking it from side to side. "Do you need me to translate anymore or is it finally sinking in yet?"

Tony groans, covers his face with his hands and groans. "Oh my gosh, you great big, loveable old man. I want to go out with you!" Tony finally says before sighing. "You can go toe to toe with me when we're arguing, but when it comes to obvious hints you practically need a billboard."

STILL missing my science buddy, but I remember that day. Thor came back before Loki's trial to celebrate with us. Bruce and I, with Thor's permission, mixed so many drinks with his meat to see if anything would stick....none of it did. Still a fun night, though!

"Someone who's...more?" Tony tries not to look Steve in the eyes, but he wants him some kind of affirmation. Something to let him know that he's not just reaching here. He desperately wants to pick at his fingers. Curse his nervous habit.

I did some research after I died. I gathered data and collected what materials I could with drones. Luckily, I was able to find some of this stuff...so yes. I always worry about my home... [Ever since he found out about Thanos first, he's always been on edge about outer space]

[Tony already has a few. One was a piece of Vibranium, vials of the test substances he hoped would strengthen the Vibranium and a box full of pieces from Thanos weapon. This thing chipped away at Steve's shield] I want to make the shield stronger than this and I hope to apply it to everyone's gear.

So this sparked three reactions within me; laughter, heartache, and acceptance. You both wound and get me, but thank you for this observation. Also, nice song choice. Most people would have picked AC/DC. It is my favorite band, but something different is nice~

[Sprays Steve's hair with some water mixed with a smidge of conditioner and begins to run his fingers through Steve's hair] Hmm, it's okay. I'll get you to agree with most of my whims soon enough, though~ Just you wait.

[Tony is practically lit up in joy. He's rushing around, making things clatter about until he comes back with a brush, a spray bottle, and some tiny hairbands.] Beauty is pain, darling. Now just sot back and relax~

Steve, stop. I want to play with your hair. I choose you. Now go sit down while I get the materials ready. [He is going to insist until he does as Tony says]

...Actually, I do. I used to play with my Mom and Aunt's hair back when I was a kid and it went on until I started to do the same with Pepper's hair. She noticed I had a nervous habit with my hands and figured it would keep them busy.

It's long ENOUGH. It'll be those small pigtails. Or maybe a tiny ponytail~ I'll use a bow and everything.

[Beams and starts to play with Steve's hair] If you stand still, I can give you little pig tails~

[Pouts a little] Well...maybe. I don't know! I felt like messing with you and you deflected me. How dare you.

Tony was still uncertain. "Okay...but as a friend?" He asked, fiddling a bit with the plate of cakes, because if he did anything else right now he would lose it. He's trying to be so calm right now!

Tony's heart races. Is this really happening right now? Holy crap. "Well...I mean...are you sure you're okay with having me? I'm not exactly normal...or perfect. I'm very flawed..." Damaged. He doesn't say the last part aloud, but he is very vulnerable right now as he waits for a response.

There's another smile before Tony slowly slides his hand down Steve's arm before removing it. "You should have someone by your side, Steve. You're a good man...you deserve that much."

[His blue eyes almost seem to light up into a faint neon glow. Bruce's words warm his heart] Thanks. Maybe not now, since the moment's passed, but expect random hugs and platonic kisses on the cheek. I do that to Rhodey, Pepper, Happy, and Bruce, but I'll wait with you. And okay! Let's play~

There's silence before Tony finally laughs and slaps Steve's shoulder. "You asshole!" He laughs, knowing Steve is fucking with him. "Okay, okay! I get it. You're fully capable of doing things outside of the tower, I always knew that. That doesn't mean I don't worry about you."

Tony narrows his eyes at Steve. "I'm gonna limit your access to Disney Plus now..." he huffs. He wasn't, but Steve didn't need to know that. "Anyway, no. Nothing like that. I want to stick with basic engineering. No more biological stuff. I want to be the last experiment for that."

Thank you. I'd hug you, but I doubt you'd put up with that, unlike my Brucie...I miss his hugs. [He missed his science bestie] Anyway, let's do something fun! I don't wanna be sad anymore.

Oh no, I'm still not okay. Before you showed up, I broke a mirror, had three panic attacks, cut up my fingers from picking at them for so long, and then disassociated for several hours before I slipped into a restless work binge...So I'm definitely gonna get some therapy.

I'm just older and learning from my mistakes. Oh, and nearly dying several times over leaves you with some perspective on life and all you have to offer it. And I'm doing well enough. Might get therapy. Better than drinking the issues away, which I've decided to quit. No more alcohol, Brucie.

I'll do that when you start to do the same. My buddy ran for a long time before he finally decided enough was enough...I hope one day to do the same...and maybe one day you will too. Eh, but I dunno. We'll see how it goes for now. Take it one day at a time.

Tony grabs a water for Steve and a Coke for himself. He returns to Steve's side and hands him the water. "Very well. My experiment was a success. We'll have better results with missions now and less injuries."

From what I heard, Bruce here actually self-helped himself and sorta...worked something out with his Hulk. Now he and the big guy are one. Although, I haven't seen him much. I haven't seen a lot of the old gang lately. I'm kinda hiding from them, to be honest...so I get how you feel...

So, after I was activated, I quickly realized that I was the clone of my former self. After a long and traumatic episode of dealing with that, I soon became curious and decided to do my research. I found out what happened after the battle of New York and learned of Thanos...and how I died...

The cyborg gives him a slow nod and motions over to the chairs. He walks over to them, puts the pan of pastries down on a table beside the seats, and heads over to his mini fridge. "I have some drinks in here. You want a soda, juice, or water?"

Tony hesitates. He debates on whether it's a good idea. Steve was curious now and when he became curious, he was practically nosey. Still, he doesn't want to leave Steve hanging. Not like this. So he'll hide the shield for now and return it when Steve sleeps tonight. "Sure. Come on in, Cap."

Silence. Another clatter, a curse, and the door suddenly slides open. "Cap! You're still here? Yeah, everything's all good. No need to worry. Just tinkering away in the lab as I usually do."

There's a loud CLANG from inside, an ecstatic holler from Tony, and then silence, but only for a moment. Tony's footsteps can be heard running around inside his lab. "Okay, make note of this stuff and apply it to everyone's gear, Friday! I want everyone to be suited up and safe." [Yes, sir]
