Spain's renewables build-out has structurally decoupled its electricity prices from gas markets. Gas now sets the price in only 15% of hours, compared to 90% in Italy. Countries that invested early in clean power are far less exposed to fossil fuel price shocks. Those that didn't now pay the price.

So proud of our host nation in many ways - the push to green energy has been impressive. Spain has reduced the influence of expensive fossil generators on the electricity price by 75% since 2019 If only other nations stopped fawning over despot regimes& big oil corporations & just got on with it!

Spain could be the only EU country to beat energy price hikes
Spain spent the last six years investing heavily in wind and solar energy, leading to some of the cheapest power prices in Europe.

In case you missed it: My suggestion that Farage was whispering to Trump behind the scenes while Trump was going after Greenland has been essentially confirmed. As

notes: Working against your country's interest with a semi-hostile state - there's a word for that.

I’ve been trying to explain for years why allowing Brexit to destroy our food factories (farms) to rely on imports is totally shortsighted and dangerous. We still farm sustainably but factory farms have increased by 20% since Brexit. People cheered using farms to fill tax black hole

This is a truly horrifying account of increasingly likely collapse of essential natural systems which would bring mass food shortages, price rises & global disorder. Commissioned from UK intelligence chiefs but scandalously suppressed by Govt, & sneaked out now while attention is elsewhere 👇

'Without significant increases in UK food system and supply chain resilience, it is unlikely the UK would be able to maintain food security if ecosystem collapse drives geopolitical competition for food. '

Platforms optimize for engagement because engagement drives ad revenue, and outrage, fear, and tribalism are the most efficient fuels for keeping people scrolling. Truth, nuance, and long-term social health simply don’t compete in that economy.

💯! Most of us already see the problem clearly. Too bad our policymakers refuse to see it the same way. Social media isn’t broken by accident; it’s working precisely as its incentive system rewards it to work.

A toilet pod has opened at Brough station. How, you may wonder, does a toilet pod differ from a toilet? Best one can tell it's that you have to ring a buzzer to contact the ticket office, and show them your ticket, before they let you in. Dignity all round

Local clean heat schemes, where neighbours upgrade to low-carbon heat together, would simplify and speed up the shift to net zero. But how easy would it be to scale these across the country? Central government policy and funding, local pilot plans and inter-organisational learning will be key.

What would it take to scale clean heat neighbourhoods?
Effective scaling of clean heat neighborhoods will require financial support from government, large-scale pilot programmes, and rapid knowledge sharing to make implementation quicker and cheaper

Populist campaigns leverage disillusionment, which I call “perceived or legitimate grievances” in this short video that features a quote from Steve Bannon.
