We need more characters in RPGs who have genuinely unlikable traits and who make genuinely terrible mistakes that trigger them to change into a better person

I don’t know if I want to do Tales of Vesperia next or no—-

I beat Tales of the Abyss! . Fun progression systems . Great characters . Solid character development . Way too much technobabble . Way too much backtracking The first act is incredible story-wise, but then it kind of plummets in act 2 and 3. Still a great game tho.

Act 1 in Tales of the Abyss has some of the best storytelling I’ve seen in an RPG. But then Act 2 and 3 are disappointingly a big lollygag around the land with very little happening, exposition dumps and way too much technobabble. We were so close!!!

The fastest way to travel in the air in Tales of Symphonia is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen

I am loving Tales of Symphonia, but man did they drop the ball with Sheena’s summoning mechanic :( Only being able to summon in over limit is crazy. But I only have two summons right now, so maybe that will change!

Boss runbacks will always be bad design to me. If the challenge to overcome is a boss, don’t make me redo what I’ve already overcome 50 times just to get back to it. And I LOVE tough challenges in games.
