The "compact" is a threat, with the administration explicitly stating that it plans to disfavor universities that don't sign in areas from foreign student visas, student loans, federal contracts as well as grants, and even tax [501(c)(3)] status. It's a maximalist plan of 1st Amendment violation.

All those 2024 media fact-checks that said, “Donald Trump and the Trump campaign deny any connection to Project 2025” look pretty ridiculous right now. A Trump denial is not a fact. You just used his lies to “debunk” a reality that was obvious to anyone paying attention.

It's fascinating and revealing how many centrists think refusing to compromise on human rights to gain the support of bigots represents a "political purity test," yet also think that a bigot saying "I won't join you unless you accommodate my bigotry" does NOT represent a "political purity test."

Six Justices shockingly conclude that it's likely the Impoundment Control precludes an otherwise valid APA claim to require expenditure of obligated funds. This argument, which turns the ICA on its head, is so absurd that the Trump DOJ itself wisely disclaimed it a month ago. Utterly lawless.

Aside from how utterly deranged it is to even make light of this, he's not mocking some reporter or pundit by calling him "General." Ben Hodges is a real three-star general, he was the commander of the US Army in Europe before he retired. In other words, he's worked with a lot of Germans soldiers.

This apparent media hypocrisy is because Republicans are the primary news agenda setters during election campaigns. Journalists vainly think embracing Republican talking points will make them seem less biased to Republicans. It doesn't work AND it biases campaign news in favor of Republicans.

in a sane world, this would be an impeachable offense & articles of impeachment would be drawn up tomorrow. just as Jimmy Kimmel’s case wasn’t about Jimmy Kimmel - but about state sanctioned censorship - the Jim Comey case isn’t about Jim Comey. It’s about the rule of law versus authoritarianism.

The Constitution makes Congress Article I. It requires presidents to faithfully execute laws. Congress can override and remove presidents, not vice versa. The Roberts Court says Congress merely gives a president at-will employees he can have ignore laws. Not originalist or textualist. Monarchist.
