Other day I was in a Lyft, very nice and new with a strong scent of cinnamon and actual butthole. Driver was an older guy with lots of jewelry blasting rave music so I couldn’t tell if the butthole smell was something that had happened in the car or a just a note he liked in the air freshener.

Ever since I figured out how to make my own ringtones, like 15 years ago, “I Wanna Be Adored” has been the ringtone on my phone. I’ve never gotten sick of it. RIP Mani

It’s entirely insane that “stars” became a term we use to refer to celebrities. If I go outside and look up on a clear night, I am reminded of the scale of the universe and it puts my problems in perspective. None of that happens when former Mickey Mouse Club cast members do a pap walk.

A quick reminder that this thread is turning into the best overall place collating Kaleb's longer-form work; Jake's been steadily adding to it, with the latest entries just today. (And the tweets and the photography and the podcast and etc. are all out there too.)

Some important info on Kaleb Horton and his writing for MTV: as I learned, he'd reupped the Merle piece on his site earlier this year, but otherwise his 2016-2017 work there was scrubbed and long unavailable. Happily, I was able to find a Wayback link with them all. Share, read, and remember.

Just logged in to Twitter to read all of my DMs with Kaleb and now I am really, really sad. This is a person who was unquestionably fumbled by American media. I feel like making a list of people who should have been forced to hand it all over to him. I might even fucking be one of them.

And now I'm just spelunking around and here's this Facebook post by Kaleb Horton from September 2017. It was three months after MTV dumped its freelancers. I'm sure it would have been a piece there; instead he posted this on FB just to have it written out: Toys 'R' Us as societal microcosm.

Q: My condolences on the loss of your friend Charlie Kirk. How are you holding up? TRUMP: I think very good. And by the way, right there you see all the trucks. They just started construction of the new ballroom for the White House, which is something they've been trying to get for about 150 years.

A bunch of assholes are mad that Rogan isn't on this list and my show's artwork appears in the preview image every time it gets shared to social media, so I'm prob about to get review-bombed. If you've ever enjoyed C&R but haven't left a review, now would be a great time.

It’s amazing that the Grammy’s think they’ve found a solution by inventing Best Contemporary Country and Best Traditional Country categories rather than opening themselves up to approximately 450% more drama.

I like the A.I. CEOs whining about not being able to do copyright infringement for their "world-fixer" tech because the implication is that the cure for cancer is in some fucking Tom Waits lyrics somewhere or something and we've all just been too stupid to realize it

FFS. Spotify are now making the number of plays each episode of each podcast has had (on Spotify, not on the myriad other, better, podcast apps which you should use instead) publicly visible. I don't even track my own stats, I don't want random people seeing them.

Everything I said about Herbert Hoover in S1 was a warning about Donald Trump bringing us to where we are right now. The class politics of S2 should be blatantly obvious to anyone operating at better than a fourth-grade reading level.

NEW: I emailed the band. “We broke up with him first. We quit Twitter in 2022 when he was only half a Nazi. Then someone else took our handle, pretending to be our official account, so we filed a legal complaint to put a stop to that—which is why @dropkickmurphys shows as suspended."
