Sometimes I fall down these random literary rabbit holes and I’m suddenly filled with the desire to write that thing, taking away creative capital from other projects. This week’s rabbit hole: neo-noir. Reading a lot about James Ellroy.

The male MC in my dual POV #YA #F is my oldest character. He’s been with me since I was 17. That’s 35 years time served! He’s a dark lord’s son trying to do right. Which means he’s got to stop his dad from starting a war & help an empress that doesn’t know it restore her throne. #chaospit

Most of my #MG can be summed up as Bob’s Burgers kids focused episodes fan fic Have you ever seen the episode Stand By Gene? Same idea but replace the two-butted goat with a crashed UFO, a megalomaniac billionaire & an exact duplicate of the kids neighborhood all set in 1988. #chaospit

Male fat positive is a big deal to me. That’s one of the reasons I wrote this 90s set #YA romcom. Think CLERKS written for Hallmark by Warren Miller. It’s not a memoir but it could’ve been. We need more male body shapes repped in YA lit! You don’t need great abs for skiing! #chaospit

Okay, I am late to this party as well, but Christ, Dungeon Crawler Carl is such a fun book.

I was so late coming to the show Bob's Burgers but it has really moved up into being one of my favorite TV shows of all time and it has gotten better with age. I mean there are so many absolute BANGERS that aren't just funny but genuinely moving and emotional.

Flipping through channels for background noise and @tcmtv.bsky.social is showing Them! It's almost over now but I'm going to watch the West Coast feed. My son and nephew are sitting with me. I asked if they wanted to see the movie that scared the crap out of me as a kid!

I just wrote a short scene that is essentially the last scene of a much larger piece that I may never write but God, I want to. I’m happy with the scene but I only have one character’s name in it. Others are placeholders like Jack, Tony, minions, big monster and “The Dragon,” which isn’t a dragon.

I made brownies for my college class. For now, I am their favorite teacher.

I try to figure out a way to teach "The Body" every year I teach. I started three years ago and I always figure it out. It's so good and works on so many levels. This piece is working its way into my unit plan.
