Final run in Boston started before 5am and ended nine miles later in Cambridge, with the return trip made possible by the Red Line and the Silver Line. A great way to see the city and its transit while attending the American Public Transportation Association's Transform Conference.

I choose transit most opportunities I get when traveling between work meetings. It is extremely valuable for experiencing the built environment as a bus rider, engaging with employees, and witnessing firsthand how transit moves community.

This morning's pre-dawn run primarily followed old streetcar lines. 🧵

It’s hard to explain just how pleasant a trolleybus is until you’ve ridden one. So quiet. No engine growl or vibration. Jjust a gentle whirrr. Strong AC or heat. Excellent acceleration on hills. And a smooth ride, in a sort of gliding way that’s hard to describe.

Philly cutting service, Metro has 40+yr old signal system, other cities hitting death spiral fiscal cliff too. We live in the richest country in the history of the world, yet other countries are funding & building more 🚇🚌. Let’s make 🇺🇸 the best in the world, it’s a choice!

Waiting for the 97 and contemplating my second week on the job. So much work to do in building up transit, community and the people. Grateful for so many rooting for our collective success.

I got my new Spokane Transit bus pass this afternoon. Works like the old one, but with more weight on the shoulders.

Happy 30th Anniversary to the opening of my favorite transit center, the often derided and maligned Plaza 🥳. I have a distinct memory of opening up the Saturday newspaper 30 years ago and carefully studying the special advertising section on the new facility.

Today's commute was bicycle-based in order to begin a series of meetings with Spokane Transit beginning at work 4:30am. It was a good work day end capped by a satisfying uphill ride home.

Today's morning run: Moran Station Park and Ride at 5:01 am. I arrived before the first bus service on the South Hill, but beginning September 22, the first bus departs at 4:51 am from here, improving job access, especially for those who still need to connect to another route to reach work.

One of my favorite bus stops in Spokane Valley. Pedestrian hybrid beacon with three lanes of traffic (no longer four) makes this a joy to walk to from City Across the street. Very different from what this was 18 months ago.
