it is so funny to me that of all the things i have ever posted about art, the most controversial take WITHOUT QUESTION is when i say that the best thing you can do if you want a career as an artist is to be KIND to your peers. folks get SO upset by that one, which i think is unfortunately telling

Can vouch for Juan, he was one of my professors in my undergraduate fiction sequence and is fantastic. And short stories are so, so good for getting to explore a lot of different ideas and practice using storytelling structures and tools.

I've been reading these short stories on my subway commute and they're fantastic. They light up corners of my brain in a way that makes me realize I want to read more stuff like this. They are also daytime reading not insomnia o clock reading because they do the opposite of helping me shut down
