Mine is also about Light corruption! I always cover Q’linn’s left eye or have him close it, but in-canon the socket is completely hollow; the skin inside is plaster white and flecked with gold, you can see the edges of it reaching *just* past the patch.

Q’linn *can* channel aether for magic, but it doesn’t come easily to him without some magitek intermediary - as a SCH he’s commanding his more magical anima companion. He unlocked PCT in DT due to Azem circumstances, but with those now lost he mimics the effect with an electrope brush and palette.

Q'linn's Azem was named Pytheas (he/they), after the ancient Greek explorer! He coined the concept of "Thule," a distant island that always lay beyond the borders of the known world. I would like to clarify that I named them in early Endwalker, and did not know the final zone would be called that.

Q’linn is a cis man and goes by he/him, while Pytheas was he/they nonbinary. While it’s not a hard rule I try to diversify things up with the reflections to reinforce that, while some core personality traits may be shared, they are very much different people.

The start of each x.0 to the next is about a year, with another six months right before 6.1. As it goes I’ve been maturing Q’linn a little more each expansion, adding some stubble and growing his hair out.

Zenos is probably my favourite character in the game but Q’linn sees him as a dangerous psychopath. He also doesn’t really vibe with any of the Ancients, Venat and Azem included.

While he loves them both like his own, Q’linn is closer to Alphinaud - HW gave them a lot of time to bond over their insecurities. Since then, Q’linn and his wife have trained Alphinaud in CRP and BTN respectively, making use of his gathering skills and helping him “understand the common man.”

Assuming other OCs aren’t in play: Q’linn’s hatred of Emet-Selch actually probably makes him the most popular ship, especially with the back-and-forth banter he and Azem had. If he learned about this, Q’linn would be baffled more than anything else.

Dark Q’linn is arguably Nero: talented engineer, raised with high expectations, willing to break rules for sake of progress. But while Q’linn came from poverty and embraced cooperation, Nero comes from a place of privilege and has envy as his main flaw.

Minfilia was a guide and a friend to Q’linn, someone who helped him accept his role as a hero rather than a thief and set him on a noble path. He blames Hydalaen for her death and what befell her on the First, a sentiment that hasn’t lessened much by Endwalker.

Q’linn’s been a suncat from when I first thought him up to now! I did actually plan to fanta him to viera when Endwalker dropped (I was finishing Stormblood at the time), but I couldn’t settle on a design that hit the same vibes as his original.

While I initially planned Erien as the WoL in an AU, I've had much more fun blending her into the main canon as a B-team Scion. She joins up after the Waking Sands massacre, working with Hoary Boulder and the like, but after ARR becomes the group's main liason with Ishgard/House Fortemps. 🧵
