As I said to @mrjamesob.bsky.social APPEASEMENT is (misguided altruistic) act of giving an opposing side in war an advantage they demand, in order to prevent further harm. That's very different to Trump's ALIGNMENT with ambitions of the aggressor for his own personal gain. Zero altruism here.

We're a fairly small community of volunteers out here in Ukraine, and few were as brave, dedicated, selfless and popular as Chris Garrett. He saved countless lives doing real heroes work de-mining, instructing & aupplying meds. We are all in shock & deeply saddened. RIP Swampy

It's one thing to read about the experiences of Ukrainians in Russian captivity or see the photos as they are released, but quite another to sit with them, look into their eyes & listen to the horrors inflicted upon them by the Russian state. Nothing could prepare us for this.

So, the strikes aren't 'evil' or even 'terrible'. Just "unnecessary", you know, like 'uncalled for'. And "bad timing", because, murdering civilians on a Thursday when Trump's looking forward to golf at the weekend is really bad timing. Maybe Tuesdays would be better Vladimir?

Adding to the surreal nature of life at war in Ukraine, I never imagined that it would be my introduction of prawn cocktail crisps into Ukrainian amputee rehabilitation would be the post that earned me my 15 mins of fame on @mrjamesob.bsky.social LBC.

Yuliya: Why you have suitcase full of chips?! And you have cocktail made of fish?!? Me: For the English patient at Superhumans. Yuliya: And you bring him chips that taste of crazy British fish cocktails??!!! Me: He asked for them. Yuliya: Poor guy is sick. They give him too many drugs I think.

We hosted a pasta making & group dinner for a very special group of veterans from the hospital at weekend. Being together in community, in common purpose, eating, laughing crying together so vital right now 💛💙

Taking our patients from the rehabilitation centre to visit local schools in Ukraine is turning out to be one of the most impactful and rewarding things we do. It's also enjoyed tremendously by our veterans feel seen, by kids who don't see missing limbs or victims, but friends and protectors 💛💙

Is working in amputee rehab in Ukraine hard? A photographer came to hospital for an event & some of our patients asked if he'd take their pics, to show people they will not be broken.This job has taken a lot from us, sure. But look at him! Is the greatest honour for us serve such strength dignity.
