Agree. Appropriation of public space in cities for selling electricity to fuel cars locks in car use and locks out alternative uses like bike lanes, pedestrian crossings or trees for shade. A green and accessible city should protect the public purpose of its streets from commercial exploitation.

Calculated the break even time for a new small EV Vs a new small ICE car. Based on estimated CO2 emissions and other factors that apply to us, it's about 4 years. Surprised it's so long. EV's produce more CO2 to manufacture compared to an equivalent ICE car.

Tree wars in Cheshire: one group of drivers are opposing trees being removed to facilitate a cycle lane (no evidence that they will be anyway). Elsewhere a group of motorists are trying to get trees removed "to improve the pavements" whereas the real reason is they don't like parking under them.
