#OBSESSION is the real deal. Easily one of my favorite films of Fantastic Fest 2025. A wildly smart and sharp original concept from Curry Barker that he knew JUST how to execute.

Sensing a #BUGONIA obsession might be starting. It played real well for me — especially in a packed theater at Fantastic Fest with a delightfully vocal crowd, myself very much included.

At a time when we sorely need silliness, this delivered. Hoping it becomes a regular segment!

BLACK PHONE 2 is my kind of sequel for so many reasons. Obviously it continues the story started in the original, but I LOVE when franchise installments, yes, feel connected, but also have their own unique style/definition.

Day 3 at the TIFF 2025 Collider Interview Studio at the Campari CinemaCenter 1. A PRIVATE LIFE: I’ve been lucky enough to have a few lovely chats with Jodie Foster. Her warmth and openness in these spaces is consistently off the charts - and the same was true here.

#TheSmashingMachine worked quite well for me. I am endlessly fascinated by what it can take, and what one must give up, to be a successful professional athlete so was extremely taken by the combo of Mark Kerr’s story and Benny Safdie & Maceo Bishop’s choice to roll with documentary-style camerawork.

TIFF 2025 - Day 2 1. TRAIN DREAMS: I feel like my questions in this interview boil down to, how? How did you do that? Give me a big-event blockbuster any day, but filmmakers with the ability to convey the profundity of someone’s experience simply moving through the world is next-level special.

#HEDDA well highlights the value of continuing to adapt iconic work. The movie is very clearly rooted in Henrik Ibsen’s play but it is dripping in Nia DaCosta’s authorial expressivity.

Walked out of #PoeticLicense quite certain that Maude Apatow is a naturally gifted director.

#ROOFMAN marks yet another big winner for me a TIFF 2025. The true story is pretty incredible and was prime for a big screen adaptation, but what really makes the movie soar is the style and tone Derek Cianfrance rolls with.

#WakeUpDeadMan: A #KnivesOut Mystery is superb. Not that I had any doubts whatsoever, but what a feat and true marvel seeing Rian Johnson knock three installments of a film series out of the park to such an extent.

#CarolinaCaroline is officially on track to become a favorite of TIFF 2025. Coming into the fest, it was one of my most anticipated. It brought Adam Rehmeier and Kyle Gallner back together after Dinner in America, and had them collaborating with another favorite - Samara Weaving.
