The Nintendo Switch is on the cusp of becoming the best selling Nintendo system ever but the Nintendo DS is barely hanging in there.

I was able to extract some screens from that Darwin tape over the weekend. I've also confirmed that i need the Model 1000 firmware to play the tape. It will not run with the SBX-01 firmware.

Reorganizing my Nintendo Switch game cards and I came to the realization I ran out of room in my dedicated case for them, they could hold up to 80 cards. Is there another case that I could get which can also be easily expanded when needed? Preferably trying to aim for over 100 game cards.

A prototype build of the unreleased Famicom RPG "Splatterworld" has been found. It was posted by an anonymous user on 4chan and appears to be a later build compared to the then-only known footage of the game. I'm curious to see if there will be efforts to fan translate this into English.

According to one of the devs: "The hardware was done, and the artwork was 20% done, there was no programming. It was a 45 degree down angle view, with a maze of stone and walls and pits”.

During PRGE 2025, I was lucky enough to get my hands on a label for an unlicensed NES game that never came out. Hellraiser by Color Dreams was promoted in the early 1990s but afterwards faded in obscurity. No build of the game has surfaced but other material was produced including cartridge labels.

Was talking about the 3D Classics line on 3DS with folks and I mentioned Kirby's Adventure was notable for eliminating the in-game slowdown. Someone replied saying you could "do this on any emulator" and that's how I discovered the overclocking feature in Mesen. Anyways playable Armadillo (no lag).

Just checked some stats for FamiWiki, and I want to note the total edit count on the entire wiki as of writing is over 30k. Meanwhile searching up my user shows I have made over 20k edits... nearly 2/3 of all edits on the wiki come from me alone.

Despite being a fan of GameCenter CX, surprisingly I don't actually have much media and merchandise from the show outside of the two DS games and the DVD that comes bundled in with the second game. I should probably change that the chance I get to importing Japanese items again.

Even in VR, a game like Shanghai can still be difficult. Got softlocked on this puzzle but I ended up solving a different one so that's nice.

Got a few more pickups at a local Book-Off location in the area. I'm shocked that they had a boxed copy of Tengen R.B.I Baseball although it's missing the label. Glad to knock down Circus Charlie off my list cause despite it being common on pirate carts, the real thing doesn't appear as often.

Currently visiting California and went shopping for a bit. I managed to knock down two more Famicom cartridges off my list and I am now 500 away from completion. I also got a few "blank" VHS tapes that supposedly have recorded content on them so that'll be fun to look through.

Since the recent Nintendo Classics NSO addition I checked to see when was the last time any of the other apps have updated. The Famicom/NES app hasn't gotten updated since the addition of the NES version of Tetris back in December 2024. It has been over 300 days since that update...

I made an interesting observation with my rubber square button Famicom console. It appears the length of the controller cables are longer compared to the later plastic round button Famicom console. I'm curious if this is consistent with other consoles or if the length just varies per unit.

I'm still puzzled that when Babel/Mystery Tower was released internationally on the NES NSO app, they edited the box art to replace the Japanese "Family Computer" text with English "Nintendo Entertainment System" text. NES carts don't even fit in this Namco packaging! How can it be for NES?

I was recently made aware of an alternative to PriceCharting that specifically gets data from Japanese auction sites called Japan Game Prices. Because of that the data appears to better match the perceived value of these specific items than anywhere else I've searched.

I purposely made it so if you were to search "Famicon" on FamiWiki, you'd be redirected to the Family Convection Oven by SHARP instead of the Family Computer home console by Nintendo. If you want to know why we even have a page about a home appliance read the page to find out.

Been putting in a lot of work on the Hello Kitty World software page for FamiWiki. I'm currently drilling into the differences between Balloon Kid for Game Boy and Hello Kitty World for Famicom.

So apparently Nintendo lists the US release date for Klonoa: Empire of Dreams as September 11, 2001. While this might seem amusing to some, other sources claim the game actually released on August 30, 2001. So what gives? Did this game release on 9/11 or was someone at Nintendo mistaken?
