The ROM for the unreleased Virtual Boy game Virtual League Baseball 2 has surfaced online. It was planned to be released in 1996 but was ultimately shelved. About 3 decades later and we can now play this once lost game. Play ball!

Been putting in a lot of work on the Hello Kitty World software page for FamiWiki. I'm currently drilling into the differences between Balloon Kid for Game Boy and Hello Kitty World for Famicom.

So apparently Nintendo lists the US release date for Klonoa: Empire of Dreams as September 11, 2001. While this might seem amusing to some, other sources claim the game actually released on August 30, 2001. So what gives? Did this game release on 9/11 or was someone at Nintendo mistaken?

The reaction to the recent Virtual Boy announcement for Switch and Switch 2 really shows how people have formed opinions on games that they've never played before all because of the reputation of the system it is on. Contrary to what many users have said, there are still games worth playing.

So I recently uploaded "gameplay" footage of an aftermarket music player for Famicom/NES hardware and I've gotten several comments from folks saying there isn't any gameplay to be found. I find that interesting to hear given that users can very well draw the line between software and video game.

Stopped by Book-Off in Mesa since I'm in the area and knocked off a few more Famicom cartridges. The price on the first one is especially interesting...

The Game Boy Advance - Nintendo Classics app for Nintendo Switch has been updated and alongside the addition of button remapping are new title sequences. The standard one has changed to play a GBA Mario coin SFX, but if you hold the left stick in any direction the GBA boot sequence will play.

I've been reading the various publications going over the "$12 Nintendo game worth $1000" story I was involved in and I think I need to make something clear. While @meangene74.bsky.social was the one who purchased it for me, I was the one to spot it, not him. He had no idea what it was.

So retro but it's actually for real.

I find it so much easier to refer by the year rather than an arbitrary generation system that I always have to look up what it's defined as by people who made it up on the spot.

"Rarest" Nintendo Famicom Game Found In US Retro Store For $12.

Soldam was as what the kids say "lost media" for many years. It was planned to be released for the Famicom in 1993 by Jaleco but never ended up happening. Not only is it getting an NES cartridge release, there's plans for a Famicom cartridge release as well with this box art. Very cool to see!

Well I guess I am technically missing the box... Then again I'd probably rather spend this money getting cartridges I am still missing.

I’m so tickled by this story. We confirmed this game has been hanging in the store at $12 since MAY, and that it came from a random Famicom lot from Japan, meaning we paid no more than $3-4 for it. Happy this is going to a good home! Proof that sometimes you can still get one over on the pros!

To any new followers checking my profile, hello! As a treat, here's a thread I created going over basic details about the Sharp television with a built-in Famicom.

Whoops, somebody got a $1K game for $12 at Pink Gorilla. Knowledge is money! My eyes would have glazed right over this.

It happened, I am now the proud owner of the RAREST FAMICOM CARTRIDGE* (that was commercially released in Japan) I cannot put into words how happy I am, especially with the added bonus of that price tag no less!

It's always interesting looking at instances of video games where they repeatedly get retooled into something else but the core game remains in-tact. This particular example on the Game Boy Color is really bizarre given South Park never actually released.

A neat aspect about FamiWiki that I really appreciate is when we resurrect work that was deleted from another site and move it. Like in this example, there used to be an English Wikipedia article covering the Famicom game American Dream that's since been deleted. But the content remains on our site.

Was going through old screenshots from my capture card so here's some captures of glitched situations I ended up in.

Managed to scoop up this media haul for around 5 bucks. There was a half-off deal going on at Goodwill and I would have brought home more if the discs they had weren't in bad shape.

I finally sat down and finished this game after watching the corresponding GameCenter CX episode. The Japanese subtitle "Speed Hell" perfectly describes how I felt playing this for over 2 hours straight.

Final Wplace update but I've added a border around everything. It sticks out when looking over Phoenix.

I had a blank DS case laying around and I decided to put all my loose DS Download Station game cards inside it. But I needed a cover for it so I quickly threw this together instead of printing anything remotely professional.
