Autocorrect used to work well on my phone, but over the past year it’s become more of a hindrance than a help so I’m contemplating just turning it off. I love how AI has been put into literally everything. For me, AI has added no value to anything and instead it has made a lot of things worse. 🙄

Had loads of plans for my first day without many things scheduled to clog up my day... And I get food poisoning, so instead of doing *all the things* I am tired and shaky. BUT a book on Constantinople that I've wanted for ages arrived today, so I can curl up and read.

One good thing about AI is that even though I avoid using it wherever I can (and I will go a LONG way to avoid it), the mere idea of 'brain rot' has kicked me into pushing my brain harder to learn new stuff. (I'm certainly not claiming to be clever/better, I'm just enjoying the mental workouts.)

Was worried about what I'd been noticing in some of the older people I know who use AI in the context of some other people I am around who are getting dementia. So I did some research, and now I'm concerned for a whole boat load more of people. KEEP USING YOUR BRAINS PEOPLE.

Although I stand by it, I can see how equating teaching students to use AI with the theory that if you wish to be a good witch, it is recommended that you experiment with black magic, so you understand it and are prepared, may have been too much for people used to letting AI think for them.

I'll be reading an extract out from the book I'm working on in a writers' group this evening. It's really good practice reading it out, thinking 'Am I happy enough with these words that I will read them out loud in front of my peers.' It's really focusing me!

I will never forget when autism parents discovered autistic adults on the internet and their first thought was, "finally, someone who will understand how hard my life is" and we had to explain to them that we identified more with the children in their stories than with them as the parents.

I had a poetry deadline a while back. I managed to get 8/10 of the required poems done. Now I'm down to 4, so I'm writing one which obviously won't be appropriate for the collection. But I am sure I can knock out 6 bangers next week, and no one will notice the delay.

When a book has been sat on your bookshelf for a couple of years because you don't want to just read it, you want to really enjoy it. But when you finally make the time and space, you find out it is probably one of the worst books you will ever read and you want to cry. And throw it against the wall

Decluttering, so obviously the conversation becomes, if the apocalypse comes, how useful will my ABBA CD be, or can I get rid of it. ... It's being decluttered into a different room and someone else's possession, as apparently it may have some apocalyptic value.

Getting so annoyed with the amount of AI content. I wish they'd be labelled clearly so I could avoid it. I wish people were more aware of the environmental, social, and ethical issues around AI. I mostly post my own stuff here, and would never use generative AI.

Went out in the garden and didn't take my phone. No news, no notifications, no dread, just trying to rescue stricken bumblebees, shooing away the overly friendly cat who upsets our cats, flowers, and sunshine. Now back to sending all the emails I don't want to.

I guess I'll need to de-apocalypse my thinking for a week or so. Shifting gears to the run of the mill customer facing relations/communications is proving tricky. I may follow my cat's example and just make loud whiny noises in the corner of the room until someone scoops me up and gives me a hug.

I don't think anyone who has a deadline tomorrow can reasonably be held to it.

I found out a couple of years ago that the colour pink does not exist. And I think I'm just about coming to terms with it.

Due to panic buying, we weren't able to get petrol, so Easter plans are cancelled, and we're sticking very close to home for the foreseeable future.

Just because someone doesn't communicate in the same way you would, doesn't mean they're not communicating at all. Double empathy explains how and why autistic and non autistic people experience communication problems. Make an effort, open your mind, use a little imagination and see what happens.

Reminder: autism doesn't exist without autistic people so... Hashtag Autism awareness or Acceptance means little if you're not trying to include *all* kinds of autistic folks. Put some diversity into your neurodiversity, please.

As an Autistic person, it is a very tiring day. Walking down the street, people are more *aware* of me, and I find that scrutiny exhausting. But it has been fun to hide behind bushes and jump out at people who weren't paying attention to me. (Joke: Happy Autistic Awareness Day.)
