Today marks the start of Black History Month. This month, we honor & celebrate the accomplishments, leadership, and lasting impact of Black Americans here in CA & across the nation – like Claudette Colvin, a civil rights figure who inspired the Montgomery Bus Boycott & recently passed away.

My vision for America’s next 250 years is to lessen our reliance on fossil fuel energy and to make further investments into our transition to clean energy. Our climate crisis is currently happening and our future depends on us to act NOW.

I agree 1,000% with the action @governor.ca.gov Newsom has taken in response to the outrageous actions of Dr. Oz, who clearly seeks to disparage & stigmatize an entire community, the vast majority of whom are proud, law-abiding American citizens. Oz should be ashamed, but sadly, he probably isn’t.

53 years ago, a Supreme Court decision protected reproductive freedom and ensured everyone access to safe healthcare. Although Roe v. Wade has been overturned, our belief remains the same. Everyone should have the right and the autonomy to make decisions about their body. The fight will continue.

California didn’t exceed its 1.5 million zero-emission vehicle goal by accident. We chose to invest in the future. While the Trump administration backtracks on clean energy, California is moving forward.

The killing of an unarmed woman by ICE in Minneapolis is a horrific betrayal of American values. The Trump administration has once again taken a life through unnecessary lethal force—and is already lying about what happened. We need a full investigation. These attacks on our communities must stop.

Today marks one year since the devastating firestorms tore through SoCal. We remember the lives lost, honor the communities forever changed, and stand with everyone rebuilding and healing. The Trump Administration needs to approve the federal disaster funding Californians need to fully recover.

This week was my final meeting as Chair of the State Lands Commission and concludes my 7th year of service on the Commission.

On #InternationalMigrantsDay, we highlight the strength and contributions of the migrants who power California’s vibrant communities and world-leading economy. California is proud to stand as a place where migrants can continue to build opportunities for themselves and their families.

If there was ever any doubt the federal government was maliciously targeting the UC, take it directly from the former DOJ lawyers conducting the investigation who said, “It was not about trying to find out what really happened.”

The tragic loss of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele is incredibly heartbreaking. Rob’s legacy extends beyond film and television. He championed democracy, civil rights, early childhood education, and marriage equality. My heart is with their family and loved ones as they grieve this profound loss.
