Saying Democrats are a coalition of loosely-connected allies and therefore tougher to mobilize as a group than MAGA is not 'being defensive'. It's an assessment of fact.

MAGA is consciously putting opponents in a 'surrender or physically fight' position by systematically dismantling/ignoring every institutional means of political resistance. Civil divorce might end up being the last non-violent option on the table.

A private security force keeps duly elected US Senators out of a federal building. A VPOTUS says courts hold no authority over the executive branch. A private citizen billionaire gets keys to the federal budget. People who said doomsayers were wrong have a point - it's worse than we warned.
