I finished reading Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V. E. Schwab last night and I was super disappointed in the ending. Similar to how voice AI use has been suggested; for 'scratch' or reference. I know many actors, myself among them, who got jobs from the scratch work. Every example of AI being used I've seen is cutting away a job that someone coming up would take or get on their journey. Maybe that's the point.

I can't quite put a name to the feeling I get as a player whenever news starts trickling out that a studio I thought was a "good" one actually harbors all of these terrible practices that were kept secret simply because devs can't risk making waves or they'll lose their job in an already bad market.

it's funny because Overwatch team has showed off their placeholder art that one of their designers drew for heroes before they get the hero portrait fully done and it's the cutest art that people lost their minds over

I don't know why the idea of developing concept art with AI is somehow meant to convince us that AI isn't replacing creative professions, when concept art is one of the single most creative and imaginative parts of the entire development process.

The only acceptable amount of genAI usage is zero, IMO.

consider my feedback: i loved working at @larianstudios.com until AI. reconsider and change your direction, like, yesterday. show your employees some respect. they are world-class & do not need AI assistance to come up with amazing ideas.

Does everyone remember when Swen took the stage at TGAs to present the GOTY award and gave that amazing speech about respecting developers and players and everyone looked at @larianstudios.com as a golden standard studio. But now it's "well our devs are more or less ok with a push to use gen AI"
