My wife worked at the Bristol IMAX back in the day. The staff organised a film club after hours. I saw a VERY rough projection of Ghostbusters with them; the film had arrived in pieces and been taped back together an hour before the screening. Great fun.

Finally have (high school) students telling me they saw SINNERS. Word of mouth remains undefeated.

Horror suffers from a similar misunderstanding to films that deal with sexuality: people *love* declaring that it isn't scary or sexy TO THEM and therefore it is illegitimate rather than consider horror and/or films about sex as explorations of our taboos and critiques of our values.

Our entire lives, we're told media literacy was a useless, subjective "soft" subject and not enough of us ever questioned who it was telling us not to develop critical capacity, to obey, to sleep.
