Very pleased to have succeeded in my amendment to restore $1.1 million to climate change response budget (with some reductions including a 500k cut to consultants spend so no rates impact).

In a way it's kind of funny that the govt thinks it's ok to just, immediately after local body elections, announce that the regional govts we voted for are for the chop, and the people we elected as city and district mayors are going to have different jobs to the one we just voted them into.

I did NOT vote to review the Golden Mile today. Cities across Aotearoa & the world are revitalising their centres, attracting people back into them. I did not vote for a pause or review to the Golden Mile. Progress has already been too slow and I do not wish to contribute to that. I sincerely hope that the project will survive this review.

Councillor Jonny Osborne spoke on behalf of Green Councillors (myself, Foon and Rogers) to say that we do not support the appointment of Cr Chung to a Chair role this triennium, due to our concerns about his spreading gendered disinformation. We did however vote for the paper.

It won’t be the big story today and I am not the big winner, but so proud of my team. Even with a shift to a different party, we won 1386 more first preferences than last election. All without saying a bad word against anyone. Thank you 💚

I have a theory that Wellington city has hit 48% voter turnout (with specials still to come) because our people wanted to vote against nastiness and division and for nice and normal candidates. And for the Māori ward!
