Some time ago, our grocery store started selling packages of chicken feet, which I use in chicken broth. The packages are about a pound and I dump in the whole bunch; they give a lovely added silkiness to the broth.

Well, BabyGirl woke with a fever and ear pain, so the family’s travel plans have been canceled; I’ll care for her some this week so her mommy can still work some. No plans on this end except my baking for a celebration elsewhere. The Resident Retiree and I won’t be celebrating anywhere.

Welp, the Sharks lost yesterday, but it was a good game and we enjoyed ourselves. I was able to crochet there and back, so the hours in the car were productive. The afghan I’m working on is for a little girl whom I’ve known since she was a blip on an ultrasound. Her big brother’s afghan 1/

This morning, took GrandsonTwo to Beers Books, where he had great fun. I’d given him a $20 limit, but of course let him go a little over. He got five books for his personal collection. I got two books, excellent Heritage Press copies of “Don Juan” and Goethe’s “The Tale of Reynard the Fox.”

Drove up the hill today to get LittleGuy and had the fun (aka stress) of seeing a deer cross the freeway. It’s common to see dead deer along the road—last trip, there was one on the way home and two on the way down—but this one managed to cross safely. It dashed across my side first, causing us 1/

GrandsonTwo had a sick day with the Resident Retiree yesterday and is here again today. We played UNO, at which he is absolutely ruthless. I’ll be taking him to Beers Books when it opens so he can choose a book or two, and will take the little boys there tomorrow for their turn.

It’s fun when the Resident Tetiree us watching the boys. I get texts like, “what is a normal pancake,” or, just now, “how many cards to you deal out to play go fish.” (A normal pancake was one that wasn’t cut up, and seven cards, or five if that was easier for little hands.)

BabyGirl is home this week with fifth disease. The Resident Retiree was sure I was making up the name and had to look it up to see if I was pulling his leg. It really was pretty funny.

Did the puzzles but only got wordle; had that first cup of life-giving coffee with a bit of chocolate to go with. Second cup of coffee ready and I’ll work on the afghan just started yesterday. I’ll be with BabyGirl all day today.
