The nice thing about a Mutagen token in a +1/+1 counters deck is the optionality. You can put it on the thing that draws or gains life or whatever engines you have out at the time. I doubt it is good enough for a list that is trying to be optimized, though. 4+1 mana, have to wait for a trigger, etc.
