It's been a coupke of years since my last old house update but today I discovered that the light fitting in the back bedroom wasn't screwed to the ceiling. It wasn't screwed to anything. The previous owner had decided to let the electric cable hold it in place. Massive respect.

Man, two all-timers in the space of a month. Nice job, New Yorker cartoon editors. The idea of this one is brilliant, but the execution is maybe even more so—getting the figure in the coffin to read both ways like it’s supposed to is something.
