So you'll never believe who I ran into this week - Scrappy Doo! He's in amazing shape for his age and still has the pugnacious attitude you remember him for. He told me actually did a spell in WCW Nitro in the 90s! Anyway, he graciously allowed me to draw his portrait, which I present below.

I can't believe Jonathan Meades is coming back to the BBC to do a weekly show about Labubus. 2025 just gets weirder and weirder.

I love the design of this late 60s DC comic. There's something about the featured characters (Alex Toth art!) really crammed in there under the trade dress, and the rough-looking logo. It's not pretty but it's exciting.

Serious question for other creators: Thought Bubble/Macc-Pow aside, are there any good events in the UK for selling self-published comics? Not stickers/prints/merch. Especially outside London. There used to be several, 10-15 years ago, now much less so. I want to get out on the road more in 2026.

I have been doing some slice of life comics. It will be in a zine at some point, but still needs few more pages to be ready to print. It is in Finnish and has only the dogs dialogue in this sneekpeek. "WHAT IS THAT?!" "THAT THING! WHAT IS IT?! LOOK! "DOGEATER!"

I've been laying out the print version of Savage Sword Of Susan this afternoon. I wish there were a few more events in the UK that I felt confident selling self-published comic stuff at.

Sometimes my brain throws up a term from to 80s that I read but never really understood. I went for a walk and remembered reading about "play by mail" games. Play by mail! I refuse to look it up, I'm sure it's very prosaic. However from Monday I will be making my comics into a play by mail game.

It's Sunday morning, the time when you can talk about anything you want on Blue Sky dot biz because no one is around. So I thought I'd ask, has anyone had any success with pyramid schemes? I feel like there's never been a better time to pull the wool over the eyes of some hayseeds/greenhorns/rubes.

I've known Steve for a very long time, but not since 1983. Or so I thought because at 1'45" that kid looks exactly like I did at 7 years old.

Has anyone else read Hirayasumi? I got the first volume and it was so gentle that I was underwhelmed and dismissed it, but I found myself thinking about afterwards (usually the sign something has a secret power) and have continued to read. I love everything about the series now.

Michel has created a spectacular, one-off legacy with this series. It doesn't look like or read like anything else. Copra is something else, I'm looking forward to closing out my collection.

I'm always fascinated by people who say they're watching TV while they draw finished artwork (I watch TV and draw for fun, often I draw what's on the TV). Most days I'm barely capable of drawing to my liking in dead silence.

There's a great @sktchd.bsky.social podcast interview up with cartoonist Jesse Lonergan. I have to admit that I could barely subdue a primal scream when he says he might have knocked out two pages of artwork by 6 in the morning. Jesse's work is very very good.

I'm doing a few "how-to-do comic techniques" things for young people over the coming months so I watched some Youtube videos to get a sense of the kind of advice that is out there. I've seen a lot of good... and a lot of borderline insane.
