Don Winslow's The Winter of Frankie Machine has everything: an anti-hero you really fall in love with, mobsters, dialogue straight out of a Frank Capra film, action, suspense, and a story about another time, when life seemed simpler. My first 5-star read of 2025. Don Winslow NEVER disappoints!!

DEAD SILENCE by @authorstaceykade.bsky.social is without a doubt one of the most satisfying science fiction/horror thrillers I've read. The creep factor is off the charts, the science fiction plausible within this universe, and the payoff is extremely satisfying. A MUST READ!!

Just watched this film. First hour and a half was pretty damn good. Then, the number of overt references to earlier films took me completely out of the story. Overall creepy and worth a watch. Just wish they'd kept the references more subtle and to a minimum. 3 out of 5 stars.
