ok. art in the fandom can be incredibly inward-facing. artists can, and often do, have all the technical skills of a pro illustrator, but are incredibly limited thematically and stylistically by a clear aversion to drawing on artistic influences outside the fandom/contemporary media (anime, etc).

in light of the ToS updates I feel it's good to remind folks that the place I'm most active is actually my telegram group (18+). having this has been incredibly rewarding for me in a way most social media just isn't. I post EVERYTHING here - con updates, worldbuilding, process info, etc.

In the forum days it was just expected that the mods were terrible people you needed to be in an adversarial relationship with. The bsky mods are soft libs who think porn is icky. Your most chill SA forum mod would be a guy who admitted to killing and eating a wounded angel he found in the woods.

Looking at the next few months between art markets, conventions, prep, gallery work, and Secret Other Things I might be doing and it's like damn.... do I just quit food service? Is this stupid and short sighted? It's getting in the way of everything else.

Insane how doing back to back conventions with all the associated prep and travel is less exhausting than a single day back in food service.

oh btw I'll be in dealer's den at ANE this year and I am SO excited to make so much art for my home convention. Already working on my most ambitious silkscreen designs yet. Can't wait to see some of you there!!!
