Tonight I completed Deltarune Chapter 5. As per usual, Toby Fox continues to impress, particularly with the gameplay gimmick this time around and some of the antagonists. Ch. 5 is probably my second favorite Chapter after Ch. 4. I won't say anything further to avoid spoilers, check it out.

I know people's perceptions of Fully Charged were overall pretty negative, but I actually would recommend giving the show another shot, especially past the first few episodes. It takes a bit to get going (and to drop some of the grosser kid humor), but the later episodes are pretty fun!

1942: Joint Strike is a short but surprisingly fun amalgamation of all the previous 194X games by Capcom. That said, I wish there were more than 5 levels and that the graphical style didn't have that muddy, muted look (especially in terms of color) that was so common back in the late '00s.

Man this is so cool, the MTA brought back the K Train for a special trip due to the Knicks making it to the NBA Finals! Wish I could've taken a trip to New York to see this haha.

Commando 3 is a serviceable shoot-em'up that ultimately felt a bit bland. I didn't really enjoy the Newgrounds-esque graphical style but the moment to moment gameplay was about on par with the previous game, Mercs (which I really enjoyed).

While still not quite hitting the heights of the first two games, The Backstage represents a step in the right direction for Little Nightmares III, with an interesting set of new puzzles revolving around light (thanks to the new character Dim's abilities). For an additional 8 bucks, it's decent.

Onimusha 1 and 2 are games I have quite a lot of fondness for (especially the combat system that is action focused but still requires a lot of patience), but this game looks next level, I am so in.

This actually might have been one of my favorite announcements of the whole Direct. While I was unfortunately quite negative on the original Switch Sports, having 12 sports instead of 8 (originally 6 before updates) and having more unorthodox control schemes using mouse controls sounds quite cool.

The final game in the Bionic Commando series was disappointing to me. I can see that Capcom was trying to move the series forward with Rearmed 2, particularly in terms of gameplay, but most of the new additions were just not that fun on top of the missing gameplay elements being sorely missed.

I don't have too much to say about today's Direct, but Switch 2 ports of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Devil May Cry 5, and Dragon's Dogma II are so awesome, and I'm very much looking forward to all of those. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort also looked like a lot of fun.

Mina the Hollower is an absolute delight that, unfortunately, didn't quite click with me in the way I was hoping it would. I absolutely recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a challenging and thought-provoking top-down action game, but I think the core gameplay loop didn't hook me.

I understand why Bionic Commando has such an infamous reputation. The story is awful and never really builds upon the themes it sets up, along with a plot twist so stupid it borders on insane, and the graphics have aged like milk. That said, there's a really fun game here if you give it a chance.

Just got out of seeing the theatrical run of The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act, and wow, I think Glitch and Gooseworx really created something special with this finale; hats off to the entire team for Episode 9 and the entire series; what a ride.

Mysterious Book is easily the best Yoshi game in a very long time, and possibly my second favorite behind only Yoshi's Island itself. Turning Yoshi into a puzzle/platformer where you're observing enemy patterns and using them to your advantage is a genius idea for a gameplay loop.

Capcom re-releasing Mega Man’s Soccer because of the World Cup but only for one month (June 1-30) and only on Capcom Town is absolutely wild.

First up, I want to point out that the amount of set-up I had to do for this one is ridiculous. The game didn't boot at first until an older version of NVidia's Aegia PhysX was installed. Do not buy this on Steam unless you're willing to do some set-up to get it running.

Breath of Fire III is a massive step up from the first two SNES installments in almost every way, from a much more nuanced and intricate plot to a memorable soundtrack and new gameplay mechanics. This third entry is an underappreciated and excellent, though not flawless, RPG.

Despite Bionic Commando being a Capcom franchise, Elite Forces was developed by Nintendo instead as a sequel to the GB game. I think they mostly understood what made Bionic Commando so interesting to begin with, even if the design philosophy fell apart a bit by the end of the game.

This sure was a bowling video game... Apparently this is one of the rarest Virtual Boy titles since Athena had to rush it out the door before the Virtual Boy stopped being officially supported? Interesting bit of trivia, but not worth playing this game over if you ask me.

Vertical Force is a shoot'em-up where you can shift between the foreground and background to dodge enemy attacks (a concept I swear i've seen before but can't place my finger on where). The intent is to use the VR of the Virtual Boy to differentiate between the planes.

While Modes A and B are nothing special (standard Tetris and clearing a certain number of lines per level), Mode C is a fascinating take on Tetris where you can press L/R to loop the screen around and shift the playfield (imagine said playfield is a cylinder).

I went into this game with an open mind despite being indifferent towards Space Invaders, and was still let down. VR Space Invaders is an interesting idea that is completely hampered by the Virtual Boy's limitations. I'm glad it's on NSO due to this game's rarity, but I'd recommend skipping this.
